Our juror network brings together independent curators, gallery directors, and arts professionals to review open call submissions. This page presents the full biographies of past jurors and explains how the network supports the application process.

Carlos Ovalle Sandoval

Curator, Cultural Researcher

Carlos Ovalle Sandoval is a curator, researcher, and cultural leader with over fifteen years of experience creating platforms for art circulation, research, and cultural mediation, promoting collaborative networks and fostering culture as a vital driver for social transformation. He holds an MSS in Cultural Studies and a BAs in Fine Arts and Cultural Projects from Los Andes University. He works as the Director of Culture at Uniandinos (Alumni Association of Los Andes University) and was co-director of the independent art space La Quincena (2012–2015). His curatorial and collaborative projects have been recognized with national grants from the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, and he has participated in international research and consulting projects at Los Andes University in collaboration with the Open Society University Network (OSUN), Bard College Berlin, and Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg (2023–2025).

Lise Arlot

Artist Advocate and Artworld Entrepreneur

Lise Arlot is an entrepreneur and strategist who believes the world is better when more people access more art, more often. Over the past twelve years, she has built and scaled ventures that rethink how art is experienced, owned, and valued. In her recent role at London-based MTArt Agency, she worked closely with the founder to foster and guide artist’s career objectives and visibility, including supporting large-scale public art projects. Lise has been a frequent lecturer at Sotheby's Institute of Art as well as other art education programs. Now based in LA, Lise focuses on closing the gap between the tech and cultural worlds, and using ethical AI to deliver real-world impact for art museums, and global cultural events.

María Paula Suárez

Gallery Director, Visual Artist

María Paula Suárez is a visual artist and gallery director based in New York. In her current role as Director of Marc Straus Gallery, she leads exhibition programming, collector relations, and gallery strategy across the gallery's Tribeca and Lower East Side locations. In her artistic practice, Suárez works primarily with colored pencils, thread, textiles, and installation, through which she explores language, emotion, and the body as a site of memory. Maria holds a BA in Visual Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, and an MA in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute of Art in New York. Her work has been shown in New York, Bogotá, London, and beyond, including solo presentations.

Laura Zarta Gutiérrez

Curator, Cultural Manager, and Professor

Laura Zarta Gutiérrez is a curator, cultural manager, and professor with deep experience connecting artists, artworks, and audiences through exhibitions and cultural projects across Latin America, the United States, and Europe. Her practice explores the intersections between contemporary art and some of the defining challenges of our time, including the climate crisis, social justice, and collective memory. Laura teaches Cultural Studies at EAN University and Contemporary Curatorial Practices at Universidad de los Andes, and serves on the Academic Committee of the International Institute of Public Art at Shanghai University. From 2018 to 2025, she was Chief Curator of the Arts Unit at the Bank of the Republic of Colombia. Zarta Gutiérrez holds undergraduate degrees in Visual Arts and Cultural Projects from Universidad de los Andes, an MA in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute of Art, and an MBA in Arts Innovation from the Global Leaders Institute.

Morgan Falconer

Critic and Art Historian

Morgan Falconer is a critic and art historian based in New York. He was educated at the University of Leeds, the Courtauld Institute, and University College, London. He has written about contemporary art for publications including The Times (London), The Economist, Frieze, The Burlington Magazine, The Village Voice, and Art in America. He has lectured and taught at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, New York University, and the Pratt Institute. His recent publications include Painting Beyond Pollock (Phaidon), a history of painting after 1945, and How to Be Avant-Garde (W.W. Norton), a biographical exploration of modern artists’ quest to end art.

Larisa Dorn-Pecego

CEO and Founder of DORNEN.artifakt

Larisa Dorn-Pecego is a digital marketing and arts specialist for luxury, high-end arts and design. Her discipline spans across galleries, private investors, and designers– where she both markets and analyzes luxury trends. She holds a Masters degree in Museum Studies from New York University, where she focused on Museums and Community Impact, as well as Exhibition Design. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Archaeology with a minor in Art History and Criticism from Stony Brook University.

Leo Braudy

Owner of Capital Art Advisory

Leo Braudy is a third-generation art dealer and the owner of Capital Art Advisory, a fifty-year-old family firm specializing in contemporary art advising and collection management. Known for his ability to bridge legacy expertise with modern influence, Leo is a rising voice in the art world and a trusted resource on art market trends, social media strategy, and cultural entrepreneurship. Leo additionally gained national recognition on Netflix’s Love is Blind (Season 7), using the platform to expand his public presence and advocate for greater accessibility in the arts. Leo travels to major art fairs and regularly lectures on all facets of the art world, as well as digital media and reality tv at fairs and institutions. Leo is currently working on a book about the evolving business of art in the age of influence. He creates educational content for a growing online audience, combining art market insight with personality-driven storytelling.

Jenna Ferrey

Gallery Owner and Professor in Art Curatorial Studies

Jenna Ferrey holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Calgary and a master’s degree in art business from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Born in rural Canada, Jenna has spent the last eight years living in New York City, working in the art industry, and in 2020, She founded the Trotter&Sholer Gallery, named for her grandmothers. Her interest in humanity’s desire to create meaning has created a bridge between her academic work and her current career as a gallerist, and she has recently distilled these interests to create graduate-level courses on curation studies. Ferrey’s previous professional experience spans the energy industry, teaching, radio, and non-profit work with the United Nations in India.

Hilary Wittmann

Executive Director at Carriage Barn Arts Center

For nearly a decade, Hilary Wittmann has served as the Executive Director of The New Canaan Society for the Arts, Inc. As such, she is responsible for all operations of the Carriage Barn Arts Center, an arts organization and gallery that counts both artists and collectors amongst its many members. Her prior experience includes exhibition management, marketing for arts organizations, and community outreach initiatives, as well as work in the field of publishing. Hilary graduated from St. Lawrence University with a BA in Fine Arts, and currently sits on the board of the Fritz Eager Foundation for Art Education Inc. in New Canaan, on the Executive Director Network steering committee of the Fairfield County Cultural Alliance, and on the Exhibit Advisory Committee for the New Canaan Sculpture Trail.

Dr Melanie Fasche

Program Director, MA in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London

Dr Melanie Fasche is a social scientist specialising in art market studies. She is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Program Director of the MA in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art London. At Sotheby’s Institute, she teaches modules on business plan writing and the non-profit sector. Melanie’s research focuses on value creation, artists’ careers, and collaboration. Outside academia she has worked with governments, non-profit organisations, and businesses to better understand the role of artists and creative businesses in economic development. Melanie holds a Postdoc from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and a Doctorate (PhD) focused in Urban and Regional Economic Studies from HafenCity Universität Hamburg (HCU).

Ki Smith

Director and Founder of the Ki Smith Gallery

Ki Smith is a native New Yorker and the owner/founder of Ki Smith Gallery in the Lower East Side. He began working in local art galleries at the Age of 16. At 21,he co-founded Apostrophe NYC, which gained recognition for its innovative pop-up exhibitions at venues such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, and MoMA PS1. Since its inception in 2018, the Ki Smith Gallery has offered numerous exhibitions featuring both emergent and established artists and Smith has organized various programs, most recently curating a gallery grouping in the Futures section at SCOPE, Miami, 2023. Smith “draws inspiration from dealers of the 1970s such as Richard Bellamy and Paula Cooper” and is similarly passionate about promoting the arts in New York City and creating enduring relationships with artists.

Roberta Zertuche

Founder and Art Advisor, Bespoke Arts Consultancy and Cultural Strategy Services

Roberta Zertuche is a Mexican-American Cultural Strategist and Arts Consultant, Dealer, and Curator based in NYC. She possesses a multifaceted expertise that spans art, collections management, cultural strategy, design, and communications. Renowned for her invaluable insights, Roberta adopts an adaptable approach that transcends convention, crafting services that are culturally rich, aesthetically appealing, and ethically grounded. In collaboration with collectors, artists, designers, and creatives, she shapes experiences and spaces that leave a lasting impact, infusing contemporaneity and conveying genuine creative expression.

Klaudia Ofwona Draber

Curator, Professor, Helena Rubinstein Fellow, Founder of KODA

Klaudia Ofwona Draber is a curator and the founder of KODA—a social practice residency for mid-career artists. She has lived and led arts, technology, and strategy projects in Europe, Africa, and the United States. Her professional experience includes teaching at Sotheby's Institute of Art New York, and as a consultant to the British Council Arts. She has also worked at UBS, managing global change and local arts CSR projects. Klaudia was the 2021-2022 Helena Rubinstein Fellow at the Whitney Museum ISP Curatorial Studies Program and currently She serves as a board member at ArtTable.

Linda Liang

Director of TheBlanc

Linda serves as the director of theBLANC, where she oversees operations with an astute focus on innovation and creativity. With over 12 years of experience in the art sector, her expertise spans visual and performing arts, as well as NGO management. Linda has spearheaded numerous large-scale art initiatives and public art projects, showcasing her talent in both conceptualization and execution. Her portfolio includes collaborations with prestigious venues and organizations such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall,

Hongzheng Han

Faculty and Academic Content Manager at Sotheby’s Institute of Art

Hongzheng Han (they/them) is a rising curator in the NYC art scene in addition to being on faculty at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Han has been a guest curator at the Asia Society, the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai and the Blanc Art Space and their work has been reviewed by Artforum, Artsy and New Yorker Magazine among others.

Kelly Olshan

Program Officer NYFA; Arts Manager & Visual Artist

Kelly Olshan has been named an Emerging Leader by New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), and currently serves as a Program Officer, Career Advice and Training at NYFA, where she manages professional development programs for artists globally. As a reviewer, Kelly serves as a frequent panelist for the NYC DOT Public Art Advisory Committee and has given artist talks and guest lectures at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), Rhode Island School of Art and Design (RISD), the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, and Columbia University, among others.

Orsolya Szabo

Venture builder, Cultural economist

Orsolya Szabo is a seasoned entrepreneur and cultural economist with a deep expertise at the intersection of art and emerging technologies. She has extensive experience in marketing and the integrated use of promotional tools tailored for the arts. At Stanford, she published research on recent changes and growth in the art market.

Kelly Olshan
