EDI MATSUMOTO
My work is a self-portrait that is about protecting-self, fighting, and transcending. As a Japanese descendant who carries on the spirit of Bushido (the way of Samurai) and Zen, I create a figure that is centered, strong, and graceful.
As a healthcare provider, I help the sick in the clinical setting, and as an artist, I am exploring how to contribute using my artistic skills to provide hope, beauty, courage, and sometimes entertainment for those who shelter in place. I am trying to do my share from my clinic and also from my studio. As the pandemic spreads and grows worldwide, everyone is facing our mortality.
