“I married into a traditional Afrikaans farming family, and though I was raised in a liberal household, well-educated, and with a career, it was made clear that my role should be that of the supportive wife. It took years of hard work to regain faith in my capabilities, confidence in being me and my self-worth. Through it all, art was my anchor, my way to express myself and my journey. My story is the same as so many other women, and for that reason, my art revolves around females and their plea for recognition and equality”.
