UMAPATHY

Indian painter Umapathy is inspired by the emotions and people he’s met on his ascent from humble beginnings; He works to express intangible relationships and abstract ideas that he forms first in black & white and then translates into reality amongst an array of colour. Umpathy is especially interested in capturing people’s internal states of mind and external responses to create paintings that feel simultaneously intimate and  universal.

“The experiences, the struggle, the daily dose of life being an illusion has led to my creative side…. After recognising the emotions I felt while painting, sketching and indulging in art, I realised this was the path for me: To be an Artist; to delve into the world of design, art, sculpture, paint, strokes and colour; to feel the realm of a different dimension that others would talk about”

Umpathy studied at the College of Fine Arts in Chennai. His experience in interior and marketing design underlay his visual aesthetic and influence the strong spatial relationships in his work and vivid use of color.
