My work shows the reflections about the self-perception, and outer world perception, from the empirical and documented knowledge about female entities. As I realized that there is an over generalization about humankind, I have been interested into present the particulars that differ from described.

Martha Madrigal is an abstract painter based in Mexico City. She is fascinated by how the individual self, evolves through human experience. Born in Mexico City, her family moved from the city when she was a child. Since a young age was attracted to arts and completed university studies in architecture. Came back to Mexico City where she exercised the career. Gradually she turned to visual arts, in 2013 obtained a master’s in visual arts at Faculty of Arts and Design from UNAM.

A strong interest in human condition induced her to study Philosophy and spiritual teachings, such as Hindu and Buddhism. Her work is mainly influenced by these references.

These melting pot of cosmovision is reflected in her work process through elements and symbolism, also with the diverse use of materials in her work. The image is treated with different materials, which gives an extended variety of sensorial stimuli such as oil, encaustic, pastel, and charcoal. 

Her work has participated in several collective exhibitions in Mexico, Spain, and Italy.
