Michael Oliver
"My goal is to relive a memory by arranging a scene that I ultimately have direct control over the outcome."
"Well, I'm a super simple easy going guy. I was never the kind of guy to have a ton of friends although I am a approachable guy. I think all of my personality comes from being brought up between the Caribbean and America. A lot of my earlier work reflects some of the things I went through with not being in one country for no longer than 2 years at a time. Other work are the complete opposite with a fresh and new idea."
"Photography for me is a way to tell a story and attempt to evoke feeling. I utilize my camera as a tool to create imagery that is in both real and surreal, and sometimes laced in fantasy. In my attempt to tell a story I combine my memories and observations of my everyday surroundings. The story continues to grow as I allow my conscious and subconscious to invent and transfer those thoughts to an image. My goal is to relive a memory by arranging a scene that I ultimately have direct control over the outcome."
"Honestly, I sometimes sit in a chair in my room and stare into space. I think of cool area that I may of passes during the day or night, and I put together scene that may or may not work. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't. It's all trial and error and thats a process I love. You just never know where creating a image may take you!"
