ALEX CANO
Since his childhood, Cano, a self-taught artist, had a passion for painting. At the age of 14, he won the 1st Painting Prize, of Virgins with chalk, at the Colegio de la Salle de Paterna in Valencia. He studied Architecture and Industrial Design in Valencia and worked internationally throughout his career. In Cano’s life, he has combined his work activity with his artistic practice. His passion for painting and brushes growing stronger has led him today to dedicate himself to what he loves the most in this world, art, and painting. His work is characterized by a strongly differential composition. He uses natural pictorial elements, to create paintings full of sensitivity that do not leave you indifferent. Among his works we find evocative landscapes, details of figures captured in flat colors, inviting us to interact with his work and to finish a story with our imagination. The figures are usually partially represented, in the attitude that defines each work, so that we can join it to conquer a horizon that is yet to be defined.
I carry out exhaustive work on each collection, seeking to learn more about the emotion of living, from the most insignificant to the most ephemeral. My paintings are presented as a form of ontological knowledge to come to understand the very essence of the individual and the world that surrounds him through personal reflection. My work analyzes the very condition of the human being and highlights with masterful dexterity and subtlety the value of the purely every day, a gesture, a sunset, a look, a flower, or a nameless detail.
Cano resides in Valencia, Spain, where he continues to enhance his art practice. He is a member of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, Fine Art America, Artelista, Artquid France, and created the International Group of Spanish Speaking Artists.
