“Between abstraction and figuration, Bruno Militelli captures nature’s smallest details. Starting from macro photography, the artist crosses the limits of vision and enters the minutiae of each object photographed. Precision and focus guide Militelli’s process, with near laboratory techniques. His work poetically reveals the peculiarities of nature that cannot be seen or are easily overlooked.
Compositions made from the manipulation of objects, light, and color sensitize the eye and incite curiosity. Militelli portrays nature as an abstract manifestation; his work transcends the materiality of the elements that compose each photograph.
“In my ‘Hydrophobic’ series, feathers and drops of water interact in geometric and precise compositions. The contrast between the viscosity of water and the hardness of the feather reveal the inherent characteristics of each material; the waterproof plumage keeps the droplets intact without absorbing it, preserving its spherical shape with perfection.
“In ‘Electronics’, paths of a dystopian environment lead us to imagine a technological scenario. Numbers, lines and buttons of vibrant colors move the object from material life to the virtual, and bring a new version of what is behind each electronic device; connections become more evident as an image reveals its details, and presents its interior in a way that borders on abstraction”.
