“I travel to countries that have villages far from cities. They are overwhelming farmers and many of them do not have electricity. The women are remarkable. They do heavy work, they are devout, and they are not bitter. I am always struck by the support they show for each other. Their days are often the same as the one before, and the next day will be the same as today. There is a sense of community that I marvel at, and it makes me even more aware that as advanced as we are in this country, that we have somehow lost our connection to each other, which I find very sad.
I went to India and photographed women in a village. Their faces tell their stories. Their covered faces show their religion. They are strong, they work hard and I admire them enormously.”
