FRANCESCA RITCHEY
“I’ve been passionate about art as a creative process since a very early age.
I love the fact that a thousand words can be put into just one image and give the viewer a whole new insight on the world and that which resides inside each of us.
In my practice as an artist and photographer I attempt to reinterpret notions of visual perceptions through the play of light and geometry. I transform real structures into new imaginary shapes to challenge our expectation of how things should be. How one perceives and views these new structures depends on their own experiences and my hope is everyone will have their own unique journey through these images.
Order, everybody wants it, likes it and feels comfortable with it. But what happens when what is visually expected in nature and architecture is challenged? What goes on in the mind when the visual control you thought you had in your head is transformed? ….Chaos.
My work is an examination of the different forms this control takes and how our subconscious perceives our environment and processes”.
