Christina M. Ellis
Artist Christina M. Ellis is an award-winning artist based in Astoria, Oregon. She has worked primarily in acrylic and oil paint, but recently has begun to specialize in sculpting cement. Ellis works to create 3D portraits that explore human emotion and the wonderful idiosyncrasies of individuals. After working as an illustrator and art director for clients such as the University of California, Ellis focused her efforts on studying sculpture at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Years later, she opened an art school in Southern Oregon for children and adults interested in exploring the arts where there had been limited opportunities.
“My work is the recognition that we all want to be seen for who we are - our idiosyncrasies and our humanness. The great thing about cement is that as a medium, it's messy and hard to predict, just like human beings.”
