“I am Courtney Aleise Matthews. I have been passionate about photography and education my entire life and have been a professor for 13 years. I am currently an English Professor and just moved to Detroit from New York City. I have also taught Photography, Art, Linguistics, Literature, Writing, and English as a Foreign Language at universities and language schools in the US and abroad. My ultimate goal is to help students succeed and see their full potential while also advocating for study abroad and international opportunities that can continue to expand their horizons. I share my artwork and activism with my students as a way to make larger connections to the concepts that I introduce in the classroom. When I have taught photography and art EFL classes it has been an opportunity to help others explore their creative expressions.”
