"Ultimately because I am scared of forgetting and I feel this need to share some moment that could be easily overlooked with others. Kind of like story telling in a way. "
"I'm 27, self taught, I started 8 years ago and learned photography with film. To this day film is still the medium that I use. It began with one thing spiraling into another. Since I was a kid I was obsessed with going through my parents old photo albums. I still am to this day. I couldn't get over the different cameras and film used back then that as a result created photographs that you could never get bored of looking at. I always think of the photographs that I am taking now are images that I'll be looking back on years from now and be flooded with remembering that exact day, how I felt, what the weather was like. Once I stumbled upon film years later I felt like I could create that feeling I derive from my own family albums and hopefully share that with others to evoke some sort of imagination and story in others."
"I think that is why I love street photography so much. As I walk down the street there is person after person wearing the most interesting outfit, exchanging an odd conversation with their partner, or someone with a large nose and I am fascinated. Other people inspire me. I put an album on my phone that I'm in the mood for that day, put my headphones on, wear my sunglasses (because in my head that makes me invisible) and head out with my Leica. I'll stand in one spot for a while because I find I catch more interesting visuals that way. Once I shoot a roll, I'll drop it off at the local camera shop, or mail it out (if I shoot slide). Once I receive my negatives or slides I sit at home and scan them. I enjoy this process because it challenges me and teaches me to be patient. The feeling I get when I sit at home while scanning my film after waiting a week to a few weeks for my negatives, and seeing what I accomplished or what I need to work on is a satisfying feeling."
