"I create paintings that I hope people will relate too. Large and small scale, full of color and movement."

"I love to paint. I moved to New York City in 1998 to learn how to paint. I’m between two worlds. Australia is my home. The passing of time occurred without me being aware of what that might mean. Living in a huge city, noisy with industry and mostly man made sounds is stark contrast from where I grew up; that of a small country town; Wangaratta."

"My own practice has evolved around my ability to manipulate oil paint and watercolor. Movement of the paint and shifting scale all come into play on the canvas/paper. When I think about what inspires me, I think of good and bad paintings, moments when I’ve been surprised in life; such as a moment when I saw a surprising relationship to color or shape, some unexpected quality. Perhaps it was/is the way that light hits a surface, or the juxtaposition of shapes, textures or a tiny happening, a memory, or a fragment of a dream or reality. There have been are times when I glimpse something, and I have no idea what I am looking at; or when the strangeness of real-life seems dreamlike or indescribable for a split second, than materializes into focus, and becomes the dumb plastic bag floating across the sky, yet for a second it looked like a pre-historic cobalt blue bird with serrated uneven wings flying up against a strange green/grey of a building. Sometimes it’s that fleeting moment that catches my eye and plays in my imagination. I don't necessarily seek to re-create what I have seen, but more the experience of how it felt and how I perceived it."
