SEEME IS PROUD TO PRESENT
THE  STORY OF ARTIST:
ROBERT CANAGA

“When I was fifteen I was offered a two month visit to Paris to study art.  My father said you are gonna work!" so I stopped making art. When I was forty, I returned from working as an anthropologist in Ponape and took a drawing class, and my life came back. Now, at seventy, I teach, paint, photograph, and am married, and as happy as can be.

A few years ago, I was in Dublin and started photographing stone walls from Sligo to Glen. The last day I was in Limerick and saw a wall that had been hit and repaired with brick. It had a vaguely human shape and I saw where all this was going. Now I am photographing with tree bark, stone, water, and clouds as backgrounds for studio shots of people.”
