“My art depicts the current state of the world, and how our children grow up in an often unfair as well as

deteriorating environment. Yet, it is precisely the children's ability to transcend difficult situations

and find joy and light in the darkest surroundings that is the much-needed hope for the future.”

-DB Waterman

DB Waterman, an artist whose formative years were spent studying at the Art Academy in Den Bosch, NL, now considers herself a self-taught artist with a unique and distinctive style. Her artistic journey has led her to explore the untraditional medium of collage, where she skillfully assembles original photography, assorted papers, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink, and pencil in her works.

Embracing a diverse range of resources, DB Waterman has found this variety to be indispensable to her creative process. Through her use of different materials, she has crafted a visual language that speaks to her individuality as an artist. Moving beyond the confines of conventional artistic education, DB Waterman has forged her own path, allowing her to experiment and evolve in ways that are uniquely her own.

“Kids inspire me. Their ability to transcend any given rotten situation is astounding. Playing tag in the ruins of a bombed Syrian city. Playing football in the most miserable neighborhoods. They are always looking for the light. They will save the future that our generations have really messed up, not even blaming us for it.”

- DB Waterman

Her artistic expression, rooted in the fusion of various mediums, reflects a harmonious blend of creativity and innovation. The unconventional approach to her craft sets her apart, as she continues to explore and push the boundaries of traditional art forms. DB Waterman's journey as a self-taught artist serves as an inspiration, showcasing the power of individual exploration and the limitless possibilities that can arise from embracing one's own artistic intuition.
