JESSIE LICATA
She grew up in the affluent town of Greenwich, CT. While not being so affluent herself, she felt out of place. Her parents divorced early, leaving her with a duality of living spaces. Her mom's place was HOME, but they had a really hard time a lot of the time. Her dad's home was a place where she wasn’t safe, wasn’t allowed, and didn’t have her own room—nothing that felt like her. She was treated like Cinderella, which shaped her beliefs in herself and ultimately saved her life.
When she got sober in 2005, ART was what saved her, helped her heal, and helped her discover who she was underneath it all. The woman who emerged on the other side is magnificent, and she wouldn’t change her or her past in any way. Art, creativity, music, sharing, living in the now, and giving away to others all that helps her heal is her way of life now, and she couldn’t be more grateful than she is in this very moment for ART and HERSELF.
Her technique is acrylic, oil and spray painting on canvas, using color and abstract compositions. She has exhibited in more than five art exhibitions in her country.
