SUZAN MICHELE POWERS
California based artist, Suzan Michele Powers, has been painting the US coasts both Atlantic and Pacific since the late 1980s. Showing work based on observation combined with the emotional pull of the imagination and beauty of the oceans, she has shown her work on both coasts, in New York City, Harvard Square, San Jose Museum of Art and galleries in San Francisco, New York, and online. The movement and light has developed into her special techniques of bright acrylic paints textured into patterned surfaces then illuminated by metallic powders blown onto the paint surfaces. The elements of control and abandonment working together for a unique work of art.
Focused now on the California Marine Life Sanctuaries, the artist has offered watercolors on gift items as well as prints and original canvases in acrylics featuring the beauty of these special coastal areas. Climate changes and crisis often appear as subjects and a new theme called The Commission introduces calligraphy and 24 gold leaf to the canvases. Always submerged in abstract expressionism, she shares her love and devotion to the ocean and the life it gives with the world in her gift shop and online galleries.
