LAURYNA NARKEVICIUTE
Lauryna Narkevičiūtė is Lithuanian Media Artist who focuses on digital art, visual design and photography. Her practice includes digital art, audiovisual projects, installations and art prints. She is interested in manipulation of structure and surface, the relationship between familiar and alien worlds, and intersections between art and technology.
Reshaping the world we know, manipulating structures and surfaces beyond our sight or beliefs, exploring the intersection between real and artificial materials or lifeforms arouses my endless curiosity, evokes the mystery of life and our distinctive relation with it. I am intrigued by the dialogue between the observer and the object, the relationship between familiar and alien worlds, how knowledge affects perception and how technologies shape and deform our understanding.
In 2014, Narkevičiūtė finished Photography and Media Arts studies in Vilnius Academy of Arts, where was learning to combine various art forms to implement her artistic ideas. This background led to exploration of new tools of expression and ways to visualise the subjective experience of reality. In her computer generated artworks she seeks to maneuver between tangibility and imagination as well as challenge our perception. Outside of her self-initiated projects, she collaborates with various artists, performers, musicians, composers and actively participates in many artistic processes.
