THE STORY OF ARTIST:
LYNN MARRAPODI
“As part of a twenty-year career as a Creative Director, Art Director, Producer, Fashion Stylist and Teacher at The Fashion Institute of Technology, my artistic pursuits were of a commercial venue. In 1989, while on a business trip to Paris, I saw a Gaugin retrospective that inspired me to change my life. I retired from the advertising world and began painting full time.
Racism, white supremacy, homophobia, and intolerance is condoned at the forefront of our government today. When thousands of children were (and are) separated from their parents, my response was visceral. This piece, SEE ME...I AM STILL ME, is the first in a series of self-portraits in different skins.”
